How we keep student safe on and off the water

Professional support

All DKP instructors are certified in commercial boating, marine radio operation, and first aid, and meet all Transport Canada safety regulations for teaching windsports off the coast, so you’re in safe hands no matter the situation.

Good wind guaranteed

Ocean and weather conditions are constantly monitored by your instructor and relayed to you before and during your lesson. If winds exceed 25 knots, your lesson, or the remaining time will be refunded. We’re always on the lookout for 15–20 knot days to make sure you’re learning in smooth, ideal conditions.

Radio communication

Before, during, and after each lesson, your instructor communicates with the Coast Gaurd via VHF radio and relays your live location to ensure a seamless and positive experience. By maintaining constant radio contact, we’re able to monitor conditions and respond effectively.

We also use helmet radios to ensure communication to you throughout your lesson, no matter the situation.

Saftey Gear

Students are required to wear helmets when handling 4-line kites on land, and Team Canada life jackets from Zhik while on the water.

While riding, students have access to a line cutter, whistle, and live helmet radio communication with their private instructor.
